The Richest People in the Cryptocurrency World Have Been Named
Forbes has once again published a list of the richest people. Among the usual names stand out six characters who made it to the cherished top from the crypto industry.
Despite the difficult year, many people have only increased their wealth. To be included in the list, one must have a fortune of at least $3 billion. Accordingly, there are seven cryptocurrency leaders, six of which made the list for the first time.
The total capital of the wealthy of the cryptocurrency world is estimated at about $55 billion. This is comparable to the GDP of Croatia or the capitalization of an asset such as Ripple (XRP).
Sam Bankman-Fried owns about 40% of all capital, the equivalent of $22.5 billion. He is the founder of FTX and Alameda Research and has made his main fortune in the past two years.
During that time, Fried created one of the largest cryptocurrency exchanges. FTX processes $2.4 billion in transactions daily on the spot market and $10.5 billion in derivatives.
The list also includes the CEO of another large trading platform, Coinbase, Brian Armstrong. His capital is $11.5 billion, which is similar to such cryptocurrency as Algorand.
The Winklevoss twins, who own Gemini, made the list with a total capital of $8.6 billion. Coinbase co-founder Fred Ehrsam made the list with $3.5 billion. Early crypto-enthusiast J. McCaleb also made the list with $3 billion. He also co-founded Ripple along with another ranking partner, Chris Larsen, with $6 billion.
